A Stand is a supernatural power unique to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. It appears for the first time in the third part of the manga Stardust Crusaders.
A Stand is an entity psychically generated by its proprietor, generally referred to as a Stand User. It is a visual manifestation of the User’s fighting spirit and named with a musical reference. The stand possesses abilities and power, depending of the Stand User. It can be used for good or evil action. The characters use their powers and their stands to fight, using their abilities to their advantages.
Stands present themselves in a large variety of forms and with different behaviors, if they are sentient at all. They follow a loose set of rules, with no definite standard by which one can fully classify them. As an embodiment of someone’s psyche, Stands are therefore as varied as human minds can be.
Due to their diversity, Stands are not made equal. Some can be incredibly powerful due to their User, others can be highly situational because of a defining mind of character, or even detrimental to their User if they do not have the necessary fighting spirit.
They are presented with a graph that will basically illustrate their different strengths. This chart shows the power, speed, reach, durability, precision and potential of the Stand. There is somes exemples:
